China’s steel exports from January to September this year reached 80.7 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 21.2%. Due to the increase in domestic inventories, steel mills turned to export markets for sales, with volume in September reaching 10.15 million tons.

However, the global steel demand is sluggish, and export competition from Chinese steel is affecting the mills in various countries continuously, leading to a gradual increase in anti-dumping measures against China origin.

Japanese market participants have repeatedly mentioned and been wary of increasing imports of galvanized steel from China. In addition, Nippon Steel is also preparing to ask the government to take trade measures against stainless steel from China and South Korea.

At present, Chinese mills have not actively reduced production and may expand the proportion of their sales in various markets.

In addition to the anti-dumping duties imposed by the EU and the United States, Vietnam, India, Turkey, and Africa have also initiated anti-dumping measures.
